Hi all! I'm Lore, a 3rd-year PhD Candidate in Sociology, and I'm running for GSC Rep for the H&S and Rep at Large. In the past year, I've served as the GSC's ex-officio Co-Social Chair and have helped organize events for the graduate student community, ranging from sports outings, Thanksgiving Dinner, winter and cupid wonderlands, wine tastings, and, of course, grad formal. Alongside my co-chair, Leslie Luqueño, we've made events more accessible, ensuring everyone has an equal change to attend our consistently sold-out events. We have also diversified our events to cater to graduate students of all backgrounds, including those with families. 

In the coming year, I'd love to continue to serve as Social Chair and to further advocate for issues of immigration, diversity, equity and inclusion, and housing affordability. As a Latina and first-generation immigrant, college and graduate student from a low income background, these issues are incredibly important to me. I hope to have the opportunity to continue to advocate for positive change across the university while also fostering community through our GSC events.
