If elected to the GSC, I hope to advocate for issues that directly affect the daily lives and long-term success of medical, PA, PhD, and Masters students. My priorities include:
- Protecting financial aid packages and PhD stipends for future academic years
- Streamlining access to CalFresh benefits for School of Medicine graduate students, especially those who are not eligible for work-study
- Increasing funding for student programming in the medical humanities
- Expanding guaranteed housing for physician assistant students beyond their first year
- Improving awareness of fellowships, scholarships, and other professional opportunities through more consistent community-wide communication
- Increasing institutional support for test preparation resources
- Hosting career fairs featuring established members in academia, clinical care, industry, and service work
- Hosting Stop the Bleed and Narcan training workshops in collaboration with other student groups/classes
- Advocating for stronger administrative support for international and non-citizen students
I also want to push for broader efforts that strengthen student life and wellbeing, including more transparent communication around financial and administrative resources, expanded mental health and wellness support, and greater attention to the needs of students balancing academic demands with research and personal responsibilities. My goal is to ensure that students across the School of Medicine feel informed and represented, while contributing meaningfully to our local communities through service.
