It’s CRYSTAL Clear: Crystal Liu for Undergraduate Senate!
Hi, I’m Crystal Liu! I’ve loved getting to know so many people at Stanford already, and if we haven’t met yet, I hope we do soon!
I currently serve as a Freshman Council Representative and Social Chair, where I’ve had the chance to bring students together and listen closely to what they care about. Before Stanford, I led two of the largest student organizations, Key Club (service club) and Green Club (environmental advocacy/service club), at my high school as President, each with over 200 members. Working with such large and diverse groups taught me how important clear communication and listening are when you’re representing others.
Now, I’m running for Undergraduate Senate because I care about making the student opportunities, resources, and student government more clear and accessible for everyone.
Read more to find out some of my goals and priorities as your representative!
1. Making Stanford’s Resources Crystal Clear
• Host an early-quarter session explaining how student government works + where student fees go
• Share regular, easy-to-read updates about funding opportunities and deadlines
• Create a centralized page with key resources students can reference throughout the year
• Share regular, easy-to-read updates about funding opportunities and deadlines
• Create a centralized page with key resources students can reference throughout the year
2. Culture and Community
• Advocate within funding discussions to prioritize cultural programming and large-scale cultural food events
• Explore dedicated collaboration grants for cross-cultural festivals and joint programming
• Support resolutions encouraging partnerships between student groups and R&DE for themed dining collaborations
3. Supporting Student Clubs
• Propose a centralized “Funding at a Glance” page that clearly lists Annual Grants, Quick Grants, and major funding deadlines each quarter
• Advocate for brief, public summaries after each major funding cycle explaining what types of initiatives were supported
• Introduce collaboration-focused mini-grants that encourage cross-community programming between clubs
4. Student Life & Wellbeing
• Engage with transportation partners to gather student feedback on shuttle routes and late-night mobility, and bring those perspectives into Senate discussions
• Support funding for student-led sustainability initiatives related to campus energy use and heating awareness
• Partner with student mental health organizations to elevate and support peer-based programming and campus conversations
Through everything I have outlined, my goal is simple: to make student government feel transparent, accessible, supportive, and connected to students.
Finally, if elected, I will prioritize hearing student perspectives and bringing those concerns into Senate discussions. Your ideas and experiences should help shape the decisions that affect our campus. I would love to hear directly from students across majors, dorms, grade levels, and communities about what matters most to them!
If you have suggestions, questions, or ideas, I would love to hear from you:
