I take great pride in the cultures and communities I exist within, and I carry into every space the stories of communities that have always relied on resilience, organizing, and collective care to survive and thrive. The stories of those who came before me are always close—from my father’s stories of the Nakba, to my mother’s pregnancy stories during the One Child Policy crackdown in China. I hold these histories near and dear, and I see my life as a continuation of theirs—an opportunity to honor their struggles by giving back to the communities that shape me.
At Stanford, that commitment guides the way I approach the senate.
Our campus has a long history of student movements pushing this institution to live up to its values. Many of the spaces, resources, and communities that students benefit from today exist because students organized for them.
My role in the Senate has been to work in complement to that tradition, helping ensure that the priorities emerging from student communities are represented in institutional decision-making.
Whether that means advocating for the implementation of the Muslim, Arab, and Palestinian Committee Report recommendations, continuing the struggle for Stanford to become a true sanctuary campus, strengthening protections for student organizing, or building coalitions across VSOs and community centers, my goal has been simple:
Honor the work of student movements by helping turn the demands into lasting institutional change.
The work isn’t finished—and that’s why I’m running again.
My commitments, among many others:
- Expanding Free Speech & Supporting Student Organizing
- Actualizing Muslim, Arab, and Palestinian Committee Report recommendations
- Actualizing a Sanctuary Campus
- Admissions Equity (addressing declining numbers)
- Expanding Support and Access for FLI students
- Supporting BDS & Divestment from Palantir
- Protecting Institutional Funding and Support for Communities
Let’s hold Stanford accountable!
