I said I was actually going to retire from the GSC this year but here I am, running one last time (actually though because I'm graduating next year!). As the most senior member of the GSC (at the ripe age of 26), I am running for re-election in order to continue in my role as Social Chair and GSE representative or GSC Representative-At-Large, positions I have held during my 3 years on the council. As Social Chair, I have been instrumental in bringing new and exciting graduate student activities (like our Night at TopGolf, outings to sports and arts events, etc.) as well as helping maintain our traditional events like Grad Formal. I came into the GSC when we had to rebuild our social life post-campus closure and now, I co-run events that continuously sell out and serve 1000+ graduate students every year. Beyond being social chair, I also am a first-generation-to-college Latina student and am extremely passionate about affordability issues, immigration and diversity advocacy, and educational accessibility. Now as I enter my last year of doctoral study (I promise this time for real), I hope I have the honor of finishing it off like I started, which is with this commitment to create a legacy of social life and activities at Stanford that will live beyond my time on the council.
