Hi everyone! I hope you’re having a great day! I’m Nason–you might know me as that one kid who wears a Stanford hood 🌲 and a bike helmet everywhere 🚲 I’m also the Chair of the Nominations Commission, member of the Undergraduate Senate Associate Program, and have been an active member in numerous clubs :)
Throughout my experiences on NomCom, I’ve always emphasized effectiveness over rhetoric. After becoming NomCom chair earlier last month, I’ve worked to promote transparency and efficiency in a process which (let’s be honest) can sometimes be incredibly overwhelming, opaque, and overly bureaucratic. I have a very simple guiding principle–if I’m gonna do something, I’m gonna try to do it well!
I believe that you deserve a Senator who will fight for you, get stuff done for us, and speak honestly to everyone. My platform is simple: Let’s ACT Now!
Action
More streamlined and simple club sports + club funding process
More bike racks around campus
Protect your right to free speech
More dining dollars at campus locations
Subsidizing transport costs (bike, CalTrain, buses)
Look into hiring a CS student/students to fix the Wi-Fi when it breaks 😭
2. Consensus
More communication and collaboration between student groups
More meetings/coffee chats with Senators
Advocating for student interests with the administration
Ensuring a wider student voice in decision-making
3. Transparency
Increasing student outreach and open houses/town halls
Making a more accessible ASSU!
Including my time on NomCom, I’ve never taken financial compensation from ASSU because I believe that leadership is about public service, not self-service. I won’t make empty promises that I will magically guarantee results–only that I will try my best to get things done. If I don’t earn your trust, I won’t seek re-election. I should earn your vote, because I believe that the best college in the world deserves the best. I hope you’ll give me a shot, and thank you so much!!!
