Vision: A better-connected and AI-ready Stanford
Having served as Class President for all 4 years as a Stanford undergraduate (2017-2021) and on the Stanford Board of Trustees (2019-2021), I bring a unique blend of institutional knowledge and a lived belief that leadership is a responsibility to be a voice for those who feel unheard. My goal is to ensure the Graduate Student Council serves as a visible, accessible, and high-leverage advocate for every graduate student.
Key Priorities
1. Bridge the GSB-Campus Gap
- Cross-Campus Integration: Launch joint talks, hackathons, and social events across Stanford’s graduate schools to foster professional and social connections beyond the GSB bubble.
- Alumni & Graduate Networking: Strengthen ties between the GSB, other graduate programs, and the broader Stanford Alumni Association to create lifelong value. Dinners, mixers, panels.
- GSB Open Campus Week: Pilot a week of joint talks and hackathons specifically designed to bring students from engineering, law, and medicine into the GSB ecosystem.
- Cardinal Athletics Events: Organize graduate student rally sections for Stanford athletic events to build school spirit amongst graduate students.
- Graduate Mixer Series: Host structured social mixers with all graduate schools & the undergraduate students, focused on social connection rather than just professional networking.
2. Lead on Applied AI
- Practical Tools: Advocate for the integration of practical, use-case-driven AI into the curriculum so students graduate confident in using these tools in real work settings.
- Cross-Faculty AI Forum: Create a formal forum where faculty experimenting with AI in the classroom can share lessons learned with the broader Stanford academic community.
-
Career Integration: Partner with the Stanford Alumni Association to host industry specific alumni dinners focused on how AI is reshaping work norms.
3. Inclusivity for All Stanford Citizens
- Significant Other (SO) Representation: Treat SOs and families as full members of the community by advocating for clearer inclusion in events and dedicated programming.
- International Student Advocacy: Support international students with tailored resources regarding workplace norms, visas, and community building.
-
Family Friendly Campus: Pilot "bring your kids to class" experiences and increase funding for family socials to support students with children.
4. Transparency and Accountability
- Open Feedback Loops: Position the GSC representative as the primary intake for student feedback, ensuring it is heard, understood, and acted upon by university leadership.
- Administrative Oversight: Establish regular meetings with the Graduate School Deans, Residential & Dining Enterprises, and the Vice Provost for Graduate Edu to advocate for student well-being.
- R&DE Accountability: Establish dedicated meetings with Residential & Dining Enterprises about graduate housing concerns and student well-being.
- Wellness Committee: Establish a dedicated wellness role within the GSC to coordinate intentional programming for mental, emotional, and physical health.
