Hey y’all! I’m Troy Harris — a junior studying Neuroscience/Biology and Health Policy on the premed track, and I’m running for re-election to the Undergraduate Senate.
This year, I’ve been dedicated to advocating for student health and wellbeing, safety, student and community inclusivity, financial stability, and academic success — and I’m excited to continue that work.
What I’ve Done This Year:
- Helped host On Call Health & Safety coffee chats
- Served on the Appropriations Committee, managing VSOs funding responsibly and equitably by approving quick grants
- Worked with Vaden to voice student concerns on health access & Cardinal Care while communicating timely changes to students, and helped organize the VSHAC health panel to facilitate open discussion
- Accelerated the removal of abandoned bikes by identifying overcrowded racks and working with DPS to get them removed
- Organized monthly DPS–Senate meetings, pushing bike safety, emergency services, and safety reform
- Sponsored bills on proportional funding and equitable cost-sharing for student activities fee-supported organizations to keep costs equitable
What I’m Working On Now:
- Writing resolutions and working with Recreation & Wellness administration to extend weekday gym hours and Open gyms earlier on weekends
- Securing funding for free bike lights for all students
- Advocating for more fitness equipment: racks, free weights, foam blocks, greater dumbbell availability new chest machines, and expanded fitness spaces
- Organizing an Emergency Health & Safety On-Call event with the Department of Public Safety, Palo Alto Fire Department, and Stanford EMS to allow students to share their concerns with emergency resources and safety
- Strengthening mental health and Vaden services on campus (e.g. expanding access to TimelyCare mental health appointments) and reforming health policies to improve public health norms
- Representing and uplifting diverse and underrepresented communities, such as AANHPI and FLI students
- Continuing to improve financial stability, funding transparency, and equity for VSOs and undergraduate students
- Expanding outreach for tutoring and academic support services to reduce stigmas surrounding reaching out for help
- Creating and promoting more academic resources for neurodivergent students
I want to continue building on the progress we’ve made this year. That starts with listening to you, advocating for your needs, and making sure student voices lead every decision.
